Food groups

Five food groups

Food is divided into five main groups:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Starchy foods
  • Dairy foods
  • Meat, fish and pulses
  • Foods containing fats and sugars

We need to eat food from each of these groups, in the right proportions, every day, in order to enjoy a healthy, balanced diet.

All of this for you to enjoy! Why not?
