Snacks

Snacks needn’t be something that you have to take ages to prepare – you could just grab a piece of fruit, a cereal bar or a slice of toast.

Snack ideas

  • Dried fruit
  • Cereal and semi-skimmed milk
  • Biscuits, either savoury or sweet
  • Yogurts, fromage frais or chilled rice desserts
  • Bread sticks and dips
  • Savoury or fruit scones
  • Pretzels, Twiglets, or rice crackers (a lower fat choice than crisps)
  • Glass of milk (semi-skimmed or skimmed)

Fab five minuters

  •  Use different types of bread to make sarnies:
    – pittas are great stuffed with fillings such as chicken tikka, yogurt and salad
    – fill ciabatta or foccacia with stuff such as mozzarella, tomato and pesto
  • Toast a teacake and top with sliced banana
  • Make mini pizzas on halved rolls or crumpets
  • Super smoothies and milkshakes – just mix milk, fruit, ice cream (optional) and a few ice-cubes
  • Pop your own corn – flavour with a sprinkle of paprika or even a little finely grated parmesan
  • Noodles - add some spring onions, chopped ham or even tuna
