Aims:
10 Minute CBT training focuses on teaching health professionals effective strategies for managing psychological aspects of chronic physical diseases & long-term conditions including diabetes, COPD, and chronic pain.
Key learning objectives for this one-day workshop include learning skills in enabling empowering patients to learn to cope with their chronic illness by learning effective strategies for:
- Building self-esteem and managing anxiety and depressive symptoms
- Reduce referrals and hospital admissions in patients with chronic ill health
- Encouraging positive behaviour change, such as healthy eating, increased activity and compliance with medication.
- Empower patients to understand and take responsibility for their own health, and develop increased independence and enjoyment of life despite the presence of chronic disease
- Helping patients manage unpleasant and distressing physical symptoms, such as chronic pain
- Helping patients learn to cope with the uncertainty associated with physical ill-health

This workshop is ideal for all health professionals with a role in caring for patients with diabetes, cardiac disease, asthma / COPD and chronic pain.

Interactive training for small groups (maximum 30) Variety of learning styles including practical exercises, video demonstrations and role play.
