Aims
By completing this module, the user will be able to:
- Become aware of the geographical and linguistic differences within the South Asian population
- Become aware of the health issues that face this community
- Understand the importance of faith in the south Asian community and how faith can influence dietary choices and lifestyles
- Understand the importance of health beliefs and identify ways to address these appropriately
- Explain the social aspects that can influence diet and lifestyle including the role of the family and social customs
- Be able to identify key areas for dietary change in the south Asian diet including cooking techniques and portion sizes
- Advise south Asian clients with confidence and cultural sensitivity, on healthy eating practices

How achievement is assessed
