Course aims

This six month multi-professional module focuses upon the assessment and management of the individual with diabetes. Emphasis is placed upon the health needs of the individual, health promotion and self-empowerment. This module is aimed at health care professional (doctors, nurses, dieticians, podiatrists and pharmacists) who have a role in the delivery and management of care for those clients and their families experiencing diabetes and who wish to respond more effectively to the health needs of their clients. Upon completion of the course the participant will be able to suggest, initiate and vary treatment to individual needs. The content covers screening, diagnosis, management of diabetes and micro-and macro-vascular complications.

Venue dates

Crow Trees at least six time per year and at other venues throughout the UK by arrangement.

Length structure

Six month distance learning course with one optional and two compulsory workshop days.

Cost to student

£634.50 (incl. VAT) per student. Funding is available to students in the Yorkshire Humber region.

Achievement assesed

One hour unseen examination comprising of True/ False statements based on the content of the module. 4,000 word case study.

Teaching methods

A combination of self-directed study with a distance learning pack, optional mentor support and face-to-face teaching.
