Aims:

This course is for all health care professionals directly contributing to the care and management of diabetes in primary care. It will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver diabetes care effectively within a framework of chronic disease management with reference to local and national guidelines.

The course has  four intergrated components: current trends in diabetes, managing and developing diabetes care systems, assessment and clinical decision making in diabetes, care and treatment options.

Part time course - 6 taught days (dates above) and on line learning (distance learning).

How achievement is assessed:

Multiple choice exam, project and OSCEs

Teaching methods:

Study days combine lectures, group work and discussion. Online work combines reading, discussion and question and answer work.
