The CCG has identified foot care for diabetes patients as a priority area for improvement. This is in recognition of Mansfield and Ashfield’s current position against key outcomes – with higher than average rates for amputations and for overall diabetes emergency admissions.

The CCG are in the early stages of a project to review their footcare pathway, and are looking to involve their diabetes patients to get their input at an early stage of the redesign process. In March Diabetes UK joint-hosted two sessions with the CCG to gather feedback on what service users think about the current footcare services they receive and what they think needs to be improved. This feedback will influence how the CCG re-designs the pathway. We will now be doing some more focused work with local people who have had particular diabetes-related foot complications.
