If you have experience of group facilitation, or can get someone experienced involved to facilitate the event, that will be ideal. If not, don’t worry – visit the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvements' online resources to help you facilitate effectively.
You can use a range of methods to get people to participate and discussion working well. There are a number of online resources that offer useful advice on methods of facilitation. A good example can be found on the website, people and participation.net.
When running the day, it is important to allow participants time to feel comfortable working together as a group and give them opportunities to voice their general views on their diabetes and the care they receive before focusing on specific issues.
