A new Diabetes Commissioning Toolkit, which aims to give practical help to NHS commissioners and diabetes networks as they plan diabetes services in the NHS, has been launched.
The toolkit has been produced by the National Diabetes Support Team (NDST) in partnership with Diabetes UK, the Primary Care Diabetes Society, Department of Health, the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists and the Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory.
"This is an important new tool which should help ensure that services are designed with the needs of people with diabetes in mind," said Simon O’Neill, Director of Care and Policy at Diabetes UK.
“It is important to involve patients in the planning of diabetes services, and the toolkit shows how to make commissioning a collaborative process.
"In the long run, we believe that the toolkit will help improve the quality of care for people with diabetes”.
The toolkit can be downloaded on the right.
