Improving Emergency and Inpatient care for People with Diabetes (Mar 2008)

About 10 per cent of all hospital beds in the UK are occupied by people with diabetes. People with diabetes have expressed unhappiness about the standard of diabetes care they receive in hospital.

A Working Party involving people with diabetes, healthcare professionals, the Department of Health Diabetes Policy Team, National Diabetes Support Team and Diabetes UK have produced a report on inpatient care.

"Improving Emergency and Inpatient care for People With Diabetes" outlines the scale of the problem both financially and clinically and provides information and standards for commissioners and providers.
