Diabetes UK needs your help to build a national database of DSNs (including PDSNs) and Nurse Consultants working in the United Kingdom.
Membership to the DSN Consultative Group is completely free and will not only help you feed into the charity’s work but keep you up to date with developments.
The diabetes specialist nurse (DSN) role exists to educate and support people living with diabetes and their families, at all stages in their lives.
- DSNs must work entirely in diabetes care and may be employed in primary or secondary care or across both settings.
- Their caseloads might encompass the care of adults, children or both.
- The role should encompass specific elements including that of leadership, innovation, research and education.
- The DSNs should work within multidisciplinary teams with a consultant as their clinical lead.
