- £14,326; 6-month small grant
- October 2012 – April 2013
Background to project
Research has shown that teenagers with Type 2 diabetes often do not stick to prescribed treatments and that treatments among this age group are often unsuccessful. However, few studies have considered the views and experiences of teenagers with Type 2 to get their perspective on treatments and their reasons for not sticking to treatments.
Project aims
Dr Katrina Turner and her team at the University of Bristol will hold up to 30 interviews with people aged 13-18 who have Type 2 diabetes. They will explore their views and experiences of different treatment options for Type 2 and compare them.
Potential benefit to people with diabetes
Results from this study will be used to improve current health services and to inform the development of new clinical trials that are more acceptable to people with Type 2 diabetes.
