Diabetes UK believes that peer review is an essential aspect of medical and health research funding and funding decisions are informed by externally peer-reviewing applications and through the review and recommendations for funding from an expert Research Committee or Panel.
In addition to this, Diabetes UK has a commitment to ensure that its activities have the maximum opportunity to benefit people with diabetes. It is with this in mind that Diabetes UK includes people living with diabetes in its research funding activities.
Different funding schemes have different funding processes and applicants are recommended to consult the individual schemes for details. However, all funding decisions are made through soliciting the advice and recommendation of experts in relevant fields and, for project grant applications, also from people living with diabetes.
