Moffat Travelling Fellowship
Definition of the Moffat Travelling Fellowship
The Moffat Travelling Fellowship was established, with generous support from the Moffat Charitable Trust, to enable Fellows to research overseas for a period of time and then to bring the knowledge and expertise gained from the experience back to the UK. This is beneficial not just to the Fellow involved but also to the wider community of diabetes researchers in the UK.
Financial support
Support may be requested for up to four years with provision that the fellow return to the UK for a minimum of one year during the final period of the fellowship.
Salaries
Salary for the applicant may be requested.
Materials and consumables
Requests should not exceed £10,000 per annum.
Eligibility
Applicants must have less that 3 years’ post-doctoral experience from the date of their doctoral degree (PhD viva). Allowance will be given to applicants whose career has been subject to a late start or interruption for family or personal reasons. Applicants must wish to undertake diabetes research in a host laboratory outside of the UK.
Candidates of any nationality may apply but must have been resident and working or studying in the EEA (European Economic Area) for three years immediately before application and intend to pursue a career in the United Kingdom.
Applicants are expected to have proven research experience and plan to maintain a long-term interest in diabetes.
All applicants must have identified a sponsor before applying. Diabetes UK will not identify sponsors for potential applicants and will not accept applications from those without a potential sponsor.
Deadlines
The Moffat Travelling Fellowship has been advertised in the scientific/medical press in April 2008 and has a deadline of 31 October 2008.
