Cell-cell communication and the regulation of islet function.

Project Summary

This project will identify genes and molecules that are important in communication between cells found in the islets, which will reveal how islets regulate their insulin secretion and survival. This knowledge has the potential to improve islet transplantation efficiency, as well as identify new drug targets for Type 2 diabetes.
