Past fellows

Diabetes UK has a long tradition of investing in people with the potential to succeed and in supporting them through its various fellowship schemes to become future leaders in diabetes research.

Fellowships awarded so far can be viewed according to subject area in the menu.

Wide ranging research

Research undertaken through our fellowships is very wide ranging. It can be laboratory-based or take place in the clinic and occasionally both.  And the research areas they have covered encompass all aspects of our Research Strategy: care and treatment, cause and prevention, and cure.

Encouraging young scientists

Fellowships are a fantastic route to help encourage bright young scientists to gain independence from their mentors and lead their own research programmes. Our fellowships offer a salary and research costs to our very best diabetes researchers. Because the support we offer is highly valued and the fact of being awarded a Diabetes UK fellowship is a source of such prestige, we naturally expect a lot from our fellows; only the best come through the application process, peer review system and interview to obtain a Diabetes UK fellowship.

Past and current fellows' work

This section of our website aims to tell you about just how successful our past Diabetes UK fellows have been and to update you on the fantastic and varied work they have done so far. It also includes information about our current Fellows and what they are doing. Everyone here at Diabetes UK is very proud of our fellows’ achievements and we are confident that these schemes will continue to evolve to meet not only the researchers’ needs but those of people living with diabetes too.
