Diabetes in your area

In total there are 79,072 people in Northern Ireland living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. In addition to this, there are an additional 1,092 children and young people.

It is also estimated that around 10,000 people have the condition but don't know it.

Local Commissioning Groups

The following pages show the diabetes population in each Local Commissioning Group area as provided by GP figures. Local Commissioning Groups are resonsible for the commissioning of health and social care by addressing the care needs of their local population.

As well as including local healthcare professionals, the Groups have representation from local politicians and lay members. If you feel you have a particular care need that is not being met it can be useful to make these people aware of it.

Details are also given for each Trust, the Retinopathy Screening Programme and any structured diabetes education that is currently provided in that area.
