Walk for diabetes in Limavady

On Saturday 26 May the Limavady Support Group will be hosting their Walk for Diabetes from 2pm at the Roe Valley Country Park in Limavady.

Every year Diabetes UK Northern Ireland supporter groups launch Walks for Diabetes right across the province to mobilise local communities to come together to not only get active, but to raise awareness about a condition that is touching more and more families in Northern Ireland.

Diabetes UK Northern Ireland National Fundraiser, Naomi Breen said, ‘We are excited that Limavady Support Group will be hosting another Walk for Diabetes and this year they will be in the Roe Valley Country Park. Every year our support groups arrange their Walk for Diabetes to help raise awareness and provide support to the local community. The walk is approximately 2.5 miles long so it is suitable for all the family.

‘There are now over 100,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland so this is a condition that is impacting more and more of us. Unfortunately we know that the numbers of people living with diabetes continues to grow every year so this is a good way to meet others, get some support along the way and exercise all for a good cause.

‘Thanks to events such as the Walks for Diabetes, we can reach more people and help them in their own journey with diabetes. Hopefully you will join us on Saturday 26 May for a great afternoon.’
