Fundraising thanks from Swatregh

The family of Tony McGuckin Snr would like to thank the local community for their help and support for the fundraising events held in honour of the late Mr McGuckin.

Tony McGuckin Snr sadly passed away last year and his family organised a number of events to help raise awareness and funds for the charity, Diabetes UK Northern Ireland.

Naomi Breen, National Fundraiser for Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, said, ‘We would like to thank everyone who helped and supported the fundraising events and who kindly donated, raising a fantastic total of £1250. Diabetes UK Northern Ireland relies on our fundraisers and supporters to help us raise awareness about this condition and help us reach more families who are living with diabetes.

"There are over 100,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland, 90% of those are living with Type 2 diabetes and we know with each passing year, more and more people will be added to that number. We want everyone to know that we are here to help; we can provide information and support as well as fund local diabetes-related research taking place at Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University.

"Thanks to Dermot, the wider family and the local Swatregh community for making the sponsored walk to Old Grenaghan Graveyard, the table quiz and the raffle such a success. I know the family are so delighted by the support they have received.’
