North of England - About us

The North of England team is a network of staff, volunteers and healthcare professionals leading the fight against the fasting growing health crisis of our time in our region.

With over 930,000 people diagnosed with diabetes in the north of England and thousands more at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, our work in supporting people affected by the condition and helping to improve the care they receive is more important than ever.

Our work to improve care and outcomes for people living with diabetes stretches across the region, and includes campaigning, sharing good practice, raising awareness, fundraising and supporting research.

We do not provide clinical care, however we work with the NHS across the north of England to help improve care and outcomes for people living with diabetes. We do this through campaigning, sharing good practice, raising awareness, fundraising and funding research in the region.

Volunteering

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our volunteers and the local groups scattered across the region supporting local people with the condition, giving information to people newly diagnosed and also keeping up to date with diabetes care through talks from diabetes specialists.

Fundraising

In addition we have a team of locally based regional fundraisers who support the incredible fundraising efforts of our many local supporters, specialist guidance on how to make the most their fundraising activities.
