A dynamic Cornwall diabetes group is looking for new members who want to learn more about diabetes and share that knowledge with others.

A monthly support group in Trelawney Community Hub in Camborne, coffee mornings in a doctor’s surgery in St Ives and conducting a survey in supermarkets into care for people with diabetes all feature on our West Cornwall Group’s packed programme this year.

It played a key role in a nationwide Diabetes UK initiative pressing for this painless alternative to finger-prick testing to be made available on prescription across all areas of the country.

A woman from Coleford in Gloucestershire ran the Cardiff Half Marathon this October in aid of Diabetes UK.

Becca Purvis, 24, took up the challenge of running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just months earlier in January.

In the end, Becca raised £1,203, smashing the target of £1,000 she set herself.

Former England defender and Diabetes UK supporter Gary Mabbutt MBE received an honorary degree from the University of Bath this summer.

The honorary Doctor of Health degree was awarded in recognition of Gary's distinguished footballing career and tireless campaigning to raise awareness of diabetes.

An 80-year-old man with Type 1 diabetes from Painswick, Gloucestershire helped Diabetes UK to a world record in the JCP Swansea Half Marathon in June

Anthony Fisher was one of a team of 60 runners with the condition to complete this year's Swansea Half Marathon, helping us into the record books for the most number of people with Type 1 diabetes to run a half marathon.

We are delighted to announce that Felix Hagan is playing live at a charity gig in aid of Diabetes UK.

The event is for all ages and is aimed at helping to raise awareness among young people. There will be plenty of information from Diabetes UK available on the night.

Felix Hagan and the Family have been injecting much-needed excitement – and glitter – into the dark heart of the rock scene since 2013.

“The Dorset Clinical Commissioning group should make Flash available to all people with diabetes in the area who can benefit now, and not just to a very limited group of 200 patients for six months.
