The Macauley family from Kinmel Bay in North Wales are hosting a Glitz and Glamour ball on Saturday, 6 May from 7pm in aid of Diabetes UK Cymru.
The ball will be held in a luxury marquee at Clawdd Offa Farm in Pen-Y-Ffordd, near Mold, and will include a three course meal, live music and entertainment.
"People don't realise how serious Type 1 diabetes is"
The Macauley family are passionate supporters of Diabetes UK Cymru who have been fundraising for the charity ever since their daughter Gracie Mae, 17, was first diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes five years ago at the age of twelve. Since then the family have gone on to raise thousands of pounds to help support people living with diabetes and won the charity’s Inspire fundraising award in 2016 for their efforts.
Gracie Mae’s mum Anna Macauley said: “Ever since Gracie Mae was diagnosed we’ve been really committed to raising awareness of Type 1 diabetes. People don’t realise what a serious condition it is and the impact that it can have on a whole family. It hasn’t always been easy but we’re so proud of Gracie Mae and all that she has achieved.
“We can’t wait to celebrate for a good cause and would encourage anyone who is looking for a great night with lots of good food and plenty of entertainment to join us. It is also a great excuse to put on your best frock and dance the night away.”

There are over 188,000 people living with diabetes in Wales, and support from fundraisers like the Macauley family helps Diabetes UK Cymru to offer them advice and support to manage their condition, as well as fund vital research.
