Leadership programme for DSNs, dietitian and podiatrists

This leadership programme for DSNs, dietitians and podiatrists aims to give participants the skills and confidence they need to lead improvements in diabetes care.

The programme not only supports participants to develop leadership skills, it also boosts their confidence and motivation to develop and deliver and high-quality diabetes care. It provides participants with the platform to share aspirations and challenges, and develop a peer support network.

We are looking for DSNs, dietitians and podiatrists who are willing to embrace the responsibility for delivering improvement in diabetes care. Developed in partnership with Leicester Diabetes Centre and TREND-UK this free leadership course gives participants the opportunity to learn:

  • who and how to influence
  • how to be an effective leader
  • to identify the barriers to quality care and how to overcome them
  • to work with a coach to develop your own action plan.

100 per cent of attendees would recommend this event to other DSNs and dieticians looking to increase their knowledge and skills as a leader.

"I really enjoyed the 2 days and have learnt lots already, this was just what I needed and has given me a much needed boost of enthusiasm in my current role. It was go good to network with other like minded staff too and to share ideas. This truly is a very worthwhile course and I will be recommending it to other staff."

Programme duration

The programme comprises of two modules. The first module is a residential  that takes place over two days with a follow up day two months later. Diabetes UK will provide accommodation for the programme.

We are currently recruiting for three Tomorrow's Leaders Programmes, one for Tomorrow's Leaders in Inpatient Care taking place at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, and two that are not specific to inpatient care taking place in Wales and Leicester. Tomorrow’s Leaders in Inpatient Care, Leicester Diabetes Centre*

Diabetes inpatient teams that have made progress and improvements in care demonstrate exceptional leadership. That’s why we’re offering the Tomorrow’s Leaders, focused specifically on improving diabetes inpatient care. This programme is open to DSNs, dietitians, podiatrists and pharmacists who have a specific focus on diabetes inpatient care.

  • Module 1: Thursday 28 February and Friday 1 March 2019
  • Module 2: Friday 10 May

Tomorrow's Leaders, Wales*

This programme is open to all DSNs, dietitians and podiatrists and is not limited to inpatient care. Please note that priority will be given to applicants from Wales.

  • Module 2: Friday 17 May
