Article in The Sunday Times – 20 September

An article in The Sunday Times (20/09/20) suggests that hundreds of UK charities – including Diabetes UK – are not declaring the funding they receive from pharmaceutical partners.

Chris Askew, our Chief Executive, said:

“Our vital work to support people living with and affected by diabetes is only possible through the generosity of the public and our partners. But protecting our independence and integrity is paramount. We ensure this by insisting on robust, binding contracts in our partnerships with companies. A small proportion of our funding comes from pharmaceutical companies.

“Transparency is incredibly important to our beneficiaries and to us. We fulfil our statutory and regulatory obligations around financial reporting, and share a list of our partners in our annual report and on our website, so that everyone can see the companies and organisations involved in making our life-changing work possible.”
