NHS England have made us aware that Cellnovo are ceasing production and operations with immediate effect. The company has gone into administration.
As of this week, Cellnovo systems will no longer be made available to patients. People who have been using Cellnovo systems have been contacted and informed.
Cellnovo advise users of Cellnovo devices to make an appointment to visit their healthcare team as quickly as possible to discuss other options.
Libby Dowling, Senior Clinical Advisor at Diabetes UK, said:
“It’s really important for insulin pump users to have ongoing supplies so they avoid any disruption to their diabetes management. We urge Cellnovo users to make contact with their healthcare team to arrange alternatives and ensure they have backup methods of insulin delivery, like insulin pens for example.”
Users of Cellnovo devices who urgently require a cartridge will need their diabetes specialist nurse (DSN) to support that they have a clinical need.
Sophie Baratte, Chief Executive Officer of Cellnovo, reports on the Cellnovo website that:
“This is not a decision that was taken lightly but it is the only option that is available to us today. Our biggest priority has always been patients’ well-being and we will continue to do our utmost to support a smooth transition for patients and clinicians.
We are grateful to all those who helped us to bring our innovative diabetes management platform to the market, particularly the clinicians and patients who believed in the benefits of this novel system. We are also thankful to our distributors and partners who shared our passion and brought their professionalism to the service of our commercial activities.
Unfortunately, we were unable to withstand the pressures of the competitive environment and the challenges of rolling-out a breakthrough system at a sustainable cost.”
