Diabetes UK has today announced the appointment of Kath Abrahams as its new Executive Director of Engagement and Fundraising.
Kath, who will take up the role on January 11, is currently Executive Director of Fundraising & Supporter Development at King’s College London and before that was Director of Engagement & Income Generation at Breakthrough Breast Cancer. She previously held senior roles at the NSPCC and Childline.
The position is a new role for Diabetes UK, bringing together the fundraising and communications functions under one directorship.
Chris Askew, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK, said: “Kath joins Diabetes UK at a hugely exciting time, with our new strategy having set ambitious targets for increasing our reach and impact. The number of people with diabetes in the UK is now at a record high of 3.9 million so it is vital that Diabetes UK meets what is one of the biggest health challenges the UK faces today and Kath’s appointment is a key part of making sure we’re able to make this happen.
“We already do some fantastic fundraising and communications work and we are lucky to have talented and dedicated teams already in place. But bringing the two teams together under Kath’s leadership will help integrate our fundraising and communications work and so ensure that we are able engage with more people and grow support for the cause.
