Diabetes UK’s Chris Askew has been named one of the top charity chief executives on social media by Social CEOs.
The Top 30 Charity CEOs on Social Media Awards (PDF, 83KB) recognises charity leaders who ‘are using social to help their organisations do more and achieve more, whatever the issues they face’, say the organisers.
Chris Askew said: “We know how vital social media is to lots of people with diabetes. It’s a great way to connect with others living with the condition and share experiences, and our social media channels are seeing record traffic as people look to find out more about every aspect of diabetes.
"Being active in social media also allows me to share some of what my job is about as well as highlighting many of the great things my colleagues and our many volunteers are doing in diabetes.”
The overall winner was Ruth Ibegbuna of theReclaim Project, a Manchester-based youth leadership charity.
The awards were started in 2013 in response to LinkedIn’s top 30 social CEOs list not featuring any charity leaders. Since its development,#SocialCEOs has reached millions of people, and this year the awards saw a record number of nominations.
