Comedian, actor and and former King of the Jungle Joe Pasquale will be jumping out of a plane on 13 October for Diabetes UK.
Joe will be jumping with his daughter Tina, 21, from 14,000 feet over the Kent countryside.
Setting off from Maidstone Airfield, the father and daughter duo will be raising funds for Diabetes UK and are looking to raise awareness about the condition.
Tina was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a decade ago at the age of 11. Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune condition which cannot be prevented and is unrelated to lifestyle.
Joe, from Higham, is a longtime supporter of Diabetes UK, with his fundraising efforts including running the London Marathon and climbing the O2.
'Proud of Tina'
Joe said: “I’ve been well aware of how important it is to take the condition seriously. It’s changed the way we live our lives, but it doesn’t have to change what you want to do with your life, and I’ve been proud of how Tina has not let it get in her way. Heights scare Tina more than anything else so this is no small task for her.
“I have a pilot’s licence but you will be pleased to know I am not flying the plane I am going to be jumping out of!”
Natasha Evans, Fundraising Events Manager at Diabetes UK, said: “We are both lucky and grateful to have Joe as one of our most passionate supporters – as if running a marathon wasn’t dedication enough, jumping out of a plane is a great way for Joe and Tina to bring attention to the condition, and help raise vital cash for Diabetes UK’s work.
“Diabetes can be a serious condition, but managed well, it doesn’t have to stop you living the life you want to lead.”
As well as winning I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and hosting The Price Is Right, Joe has appeared on stage in The Producers and Spamalot.
He has been spreading the word about his parachute jump while on his national tour. He will be appearing in Christmas panto later this year at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
