Local people are being urged to raise money for diabetes research by coming to the biggest Bollywood Ball taking place in the West Midlands this year.
The ball takes place on 29 September at the Holte Suite, Villa Park, Birmingham.
“Diabetes is a serious condition, which affects over 202,000 people in the West Midlands," said Peter Shorrick, Regional Manager at Diabetes UK West Midlands.
"The Bollywood Ball is our opportunity to raise awareness of the condition and spotlight the good work that Diabetes UK is doing in our region. The ball will also help raise vital funds for research into the causes of diabetes, effective treatments and most importantly, a potential cure.”
The prevelance of Type 2 diabetes is over three per cent in the general population. For people of South Asian origin, there can be a six-fold increased risk of developing the condition, and at the younger age of 25.
The evening will begin with a champagne reception, followed by an Indian buffet, Indian dancing to a live band and a number of lively fundraising activities. For further information or if you are interested in attending the ball, please contact the Diabetes UK West Midlands Office on 01922 614500. Tickets are priced at £60 for individuals or £600 for a table of ten.
