Over 50 runners braved appalling weather conditions to raise money for Diabetes UK in the 10-mile BUPA Great South Run.
This is the first time that Diabetes UK has been involved in the race, which took place on Sunday 22 October in Portsmouth.
"Despite the strong wind and lashing rain along the sea front, spirits remained high in the Diabetes UK camp," said Penny January, Regional Fundraiser for the South East.
"We would like to thank all runners for their efforts and hope that many will return in 2007.
"We have ambitious hopes for the amount of money raised from the event."
Diabetes UK funds over £6 million of research towards a cure and better care for people with diabetes and relies entirely on its voluntary donations.
