Diabetes UK were delighted to learn that we have recently won £10,000 in a competition run during National Giving Week by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and the radio station Magic 105.4.
During National Giving Week, Magic 105.4 invited its listeners to nominate the charity they felt best deserved to receive the money and why. Listener Anna Jarvis was selected by Magic 105.4 as the winning nominee and Diabetes UK received a fantastic £10,000 cheque to further fund our work.
The £10,000 will be allocated to Diabetes UK General Fund. Unrestricted funds are vitally important to us, as they enable us to allocate the money to the greatest need at the time. This might be funding support events for adults and children or new research into the causes and treatments of diabetes.
Diabetes UK would like to extend a very warm thank you to Anna Jarvis for taking the time to nominate Diabetes UK and helping to secure this prize.
National Giving Week is an annual week-long event established by CAF. It invites people who give to charity to celebrate their efforts. It teaches people how to increase their level of charitable support and to encourage others to do so.
The Diabetes UK Winter Appeal was also launched during National Giving Week. We are committed to investing £3 million in new care and treatment projects. If every member of Diabetes UK gave £18 we would be able to reach this target.
