'The Diabetes Weight Loss Diet' by Antony Worrall Thompson, in association with Diabetes UK, is launched today. It is aimed not only at people with diabetes but at everyone who enjoys good food and wants to stick to a healthy weight.
Diabetes UK played an advisory role in developing the book’s content and some of the proceeds from sales will be donated back to the charity.
The book contains easy-to-follow, tasty recipes, as well as menu planners and handy exercise tips.
“When I was told I was at an increased risk of developing diabetes, I realised I had to lose weight. Being a healthy weight will help me delay or prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes," said Antony Worrall Thompson, pictured above.
“Food is my life and with this book I want to show that you can eat well and still maintain a healthy weight. I also hope that people with diabetes will find these easy-to follow but delicious recipes a useful tool in keeping them healthy.”
Jemma Edwards, Care Advisor at Diabetes UK, said “Healthy eating and regular physical activity are essential for good blood glucose, blood pressure and blood fat control. This book will help people with diabetes plan balanced, nutritious meals. It also shows that having diabetes doesn’t mean you have to follow a bland diet or compromise on taste.”
