Would you like to become a Guinness World Record Holder and support Diabetes UK?
Fundraising committee Pennies from Heaven is organising an attempt on the Fastest Round-the-World Flight on Scheduled Aircraft record, currently set at 58 hours and 44 minutes. The proceeds of this sponsored event will go to Diabetes UK and to the National Association for Colitis & Crohn’s Disease.
The Committee is looking for a few volunteers to make this attempt with them and to help with their fundraising at the same time.
The challenge will entail about 60 hours of flying for the record itself (plus some more hours getting to and from the start airport, which is not in the UK) and should be completed in about a week.
Those taking part will leave the UK on Sunday 18 March 2007 and return on Saturday 24 March - hopefully as new Guinness World Record Holders!
Pennies from Heaven was formed in June 1978 and their function is to raise money for charitable causes. To date, they have raised over £150,000 for various charities. All the members are voluntary and no-one receives any payment for their services.
For those wishing to take part or to donate in support of the challenge, more details can be found on the Pennies from Heaven website at www.roundtheworldrecordattempt.co.uk/.
