There are currently an estimated 750,000 people in the UK who have diabetes, but don't know it yet - you could be one of them.
Diabetes is serious. If left untreated it can lead to blindness, kidney disease, heart attacks and other life-threatening complications. But the good news is that if you spot your diabetes early you can greatly reduce the risk of serious health damage.
On 10 September 2007, Diabetes UK will be launching its UK-wide advertising awareness campaign, Measure Up, supported by an educational grant from sanofi-aventis. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of diabetes, particularly highlighting the link between the risk of diabetes and a person's waist measurement.
Advertisements on bus shelters, railway stations and in national newspapers and consumer press will appear across the UK during September and the Diabetes UK Roadshow will be visiting 21 towns across the UK this autumn.
