Six plucky divers decided to jump in at the deep end and swim with sharks to raise funds for Diabetes UK at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port on Sunday 3 August.
With two hours training under their dive belt and each with at least £400 raised in advance, the brave swimmers spent around half an hour getting friendly with ten-foot-long sand tiger sharks.
Memory of a lifetime
“This is definitely a case of ‘rather you than me’ but I’m really impressed our fundraisers combated their fears to do this," said Stephanie Lawless, Diabetes UK North West Fundraising Manager.
"At the same time as raising vital funds for Diabetes UK, our swimmers have come away with a memory of a lifetime.”
If you would like to take the plunge, raise some funds and get close to some big sharks, email@example.com details about the next dive, scheduled for Saturday 11 October 2008.
