In January, Diabetes UK will announce the winner of a new award which recognises politicians who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in raising awareness of diabetes in Parliament.
Nominations were announced throughout 2008, and now you can have your say on who will be crowned the 2009 Diabetes UK parliamentary champion.
The nominated parliamentarians have attended events, asked questions and spoken in debates about diabetes. Whether it be raising issues relating to blood glucose testing strips, support for children in schools or the need for diabetes specialist services, these MPs and Peers keep diabetes on the political agenda and strive for improvements in care.
The nominees are Lord Bilston, Sandra Gidley MP, Nigel Griffiths MP, Lord Harrison, Baroness Masham of Ilton, Adrian Sanders MP, Helen Southworth MP and Keith Vaz MP.
