Now that autumn is here, it is time to think about getting your annual flu immunisation.
There is no need to miss out, as it is free to everyone with diabetes.
"People with diabetes are a high-risk group when it comes to getting flu, so it is crucial that they are vaccinated as soon as possible this autumn," said Cathy Moulton, Clinical Advisor at Diabetes UK.
"Having flu can really upset diabetes control and can cause blood glucose levels to fluctuate. This can leave people with diabetes open to many health problems, including complications of flu such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

This year the vaccine combines the inactivated Influenza A (H1N1 strain), often called swine flu, which had to be given separately last year, as well as two other strains.
