We’re now able to announce that the Big Collection raised an incredible– and the money’s still coming in.
After months of hard work from all involved, we’re really pleased with how the weekend went – and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the 520 team leaders and 6,500 collection volunteers who made it happen.
The buzz created over the weekend was fantastic – and as well as raising hundreds of thousands of pounds, the weekend raised awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK. There were some fantastic fancy dress outfits and it looked like everyone had a great time taking part.
Biggest collection seen by Diabetes UK
This was the biggest collection Diabetes UK has ever had, and we’re really proud of what our volunteer force has achieved.
If you’re interested in volunteering for Diabetes UK, please visit our Be Awesome section to find out about all our opportunities - whether you’ve got five minutes or five months - there’s an opportunity for you.
A huge thank you to Tesco who let us collect in over 520 stores over the weekend. Also a special thank you to the Lions Clubs whose hard work helped us raise such a life-changing amount of money.
Andre Carvalho, Head of Volunteering for Diabetes UK, said, “We are delighted so many people from the community joined together to support the Big Collection, whether you were a volunteer or Tesco customer, we could not have raised so much money without you, thank you.
“We appreciate the warm welcome Tesco staff gave to our volunteers - it just reinforces what a great partnership we have with Tesco.”
