Diabetes UK in 'The Times' 75 years ago today

75 years ago today, a letter by Diabetes UK co-founder HG Wells (pictured) was printed in 'The Times' to help publicise the creation of Diabetes UK (then known as the Diabetic Association).

In his letter, the novelist – who most famously wrote 'The Time Machine' and 'The War of the Worlds' - stated that the newly created charity’s aim was to ensure that everyone in the UK could gain access to insulin, whatever their financial situation.

Diabetes UK was co-founded by novelist HG Wells and Dr RD Lawrence, both of whom had diabetes, on 10 January 1934.
