JDRF’s Performance in Exercise and Knowledge (PEAK) programme and Exercising for Type 1 Diabetes (EXTOD) have joined to break new ground in education on type 1 and exercise.

This impactful training programme is run exclusively for healthcare professionals including Diabetologists, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Dietitians, Paediatricians, Sports Physicians and Registrars in training. It was as created after a 2013 JDRF survey found that 36% of people living with type 1 diabetes viewed exercising to be a challenge. The programme will help healthcare professionals to provide education and support around exercise and nutrition to their patients living with type 1 diabetes.

This event will bring together 300 healthcare professionals for the day to hear expert speakers such as Dr Rob Andrews, Dr Ian Gallen and Dr Parth Narendren deliver the programme, and hold sessions on topics including sports nutrition and type 1 diabetes, diabetes technology and exercise. An interactive course syllabus will be available for delegates to view throughout the day on the conference app, compatible with both android and iPhones, and course materials will be available for download after the conference.
