James is only 10 and he’s already on his way to becoming a rugby superstar!
He’s recently joined a bigger rugby club and, when he played his first tournament, he scored three tries!
"Type 1 hasn't stopped me in any way"
James, who has been playing rugby since he was 5, says his favourite things about playing the sport are working as a team, scoring tries and tackling the other team to stop them scoring.
He says: “I’ve had Type 1 diabetes since I was 8, but it hasn’t stopped me in any way!”
James’ dad, Craig, said everyone is so proud of him. He added: “He’s determined not to let diabetes stop him reaching his goals. It’s important to be in control of diabetes rather than letting diabetes be in control of you.”
James has even had a special message from Worcester Warriors rugby star Chris Pennell, who also has Type 1.
Chris said: “It’s brilliant to hear that your diagnosis hasn’t stopped you enjoying the game. It never stopped me, and if you keep working hard, I’m sure you’ll be turning pro before too long.”
