Alice, 13, travelled to Austria with her school where she learnt to ski and snowboard.
A group of 30 students travelled by coach to the resort and spent a week training on the slopes. Alice chose snow boarding, and really enjoyed her experience. With the support of her leaders, she had no problems with her blood glucose levels despite a change to her exercise routine, the long journey and different foods she hadn’t tried before.
I felt very secure on our school ski trip because the teachers were so attentive and interested in my diabetes, and I knew they understood me.
