Saturday 12 August 2017 - Friday 18 August 2017
Penrith, Cumbria, England
This Type 1 Experience is most suited for teens aged 16-18 years old.
A summer event full of excitement and jam packed with activities.
This Type 1 Experience is self-catered and will focus on growing confidence and independence in teens with Type 1 diabetes, with the reassuring knowledge that our volunteer team, including healthcare professionals, is always close by. This Type 1 Experience is most suited to those who are ready to step up into adulthood, or those who are looking to adapt to university life, working life or moving away from home.
Teens will be supported by volunteer doctors, nurses and dietitians, as well as volunteers living with and/or with an interest in diabetes. With the support of our experienced volunteer teams, teens will have the opportunity to learn more about independently managing their diabetes, such as carb counting, trying out new injection sites and adapting their insulin according to the activities they are doing.
The event costs £375 and is a chance for teens with Type 1 diabetes to meet others facing similar issues as them, make new friends, try out new things and spend time away from home.
