Residents with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or who have a family member with diabetes are invited to a Putting Feet First event we've organised with City & Hackney CCG and the Homerton Hospital.
We've teamed up with health bosses in the City & Hackney areas to put the focus on diabetes in a bid to reduce complications from the condition which can include devastating lower limb amputations.
Putting Feet First event
Thursday, 14 June
6pm to 8.30pm (refreshments and registration from 5.30pm).
Hackney Picturehouse, 270 Mare St, London E8 1HE.
The event is free but people are asked to register as places are limited. Register online or call us (the London team) on 020 7424 1116.
Attendees will be able to:
- meet other people with diabetes and hear about local support including NHS services and local support group
- hear about diabetes footcare from healthcare professionals
- help local health leaders understand how they can improve information and services.
Our Improving Care Manager Rachael Glover said: “It’s essential that people living with diabetes know how to look after their feet, and that they check them daily. It’s also crucial that people know to seek urgent medical attention if they notice any problems with their feet; a matter of hours can make the difference between losing and keeping a limb.”
“We want to raise awareness of the importance of foot care among people living with diabetes and their carers. We also want to ensure that health bosses and healthcare professionals hear from people with diabetes and what they think about local foot care services and information provided.”
