The Living with Diabetes Awareness Day is being held on Saturday June 30 at the Royal Leamington Spa Town Hall.

A host of speakers will be giving up-to-date information on services and issues relating to the condition.

Peter Shorrick, Diabetes UK Regional Midlands Head, will be opening the free event and talking about the care people living with diabetes should be receiving and also the support and information Diabetes UK offers in the area.

The programme of speakers includes dieticians, eye specialists, podiatrists, consultants and GPs. There will also be an array of information stands at the event.

A chance to learn more about diabetes

Janet Turner, from the South Warwickshire Diabetes UK Group, said: “We are delighted once again to be hosting this awareness event which was so successful a few years ago and we are pleased to have such a wide variety of professional speakers attending.

“The event is free so we would encourage people to pop in for all or part of the day, to either listen to one of the speakers, or just to obtain information and learn more about diabetes. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible.”

Diabetes is a chronic condition which can lead to serious and life-threatening complications if not managed well, it is vital that people living with diabetes have access to education, information and support in a way which is most beneficial to them.
