Leading charity Diabetes UK is looking for runners in Northern Ireland

Diabetes UK is looking for people from Northern Ireland to conquer Run26 – a marathon-in-a-month challenge.

Run26 offers the chance to cover the marathon distance of 26.2 miles over the 31 days of October, in your local area, in your own time. You decide when and where you run. You can pound the pavements and the parks or even complete it on a running machine in your front room or a gym.

Running is a great way to stay healthy, and feel good thanks to the improved mood that comes with exercise. Our team will support you all the way to the finish line with advice on what to prepare before starting the challenge, fundraising tips and even a tracker page to log miles and share on social media.

And to top it off, you’ll be raising money for people affected by diabetes.

There are an estimated 4.6 million people living with diabetes in the UK, with over 100,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland. When not well managed, both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes can lead to serious complications, including lower limb amputation, blindness and kidney failure. There is currently no known cure for any type of diabetes. Every mile you run and every pound you raise will get us closer to our vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.

To register for Run26, please visit www.diabetes.org.uk/run26. There is no registration fee and no minimum sponsorship.
