Cecil, who is involved in the Diabetes UK Limavady Support Group, has been providing support to people living with diabetes in the Limavady area for many years. Cecil has organised coffee mornings, street collections and the annual Walk for Diabetes for 16 years, raising over £77,000 for the charity over that time.

Collecting the award, Cecil said, “I was so pleased to be nominated and never expected to win so it was quite a shock when I heard my name called. It means a lot to be recognised in this way and I would like to thank everyone for their support over all the years.

"...I hope we can continue to raise awareness and funds for a charity that means so much to me and many others." Cecil

The Inspire Awards recognise the invaluable contribution of the volunteers and groups that go above and beyond for people with diabetes.

Jillian Patchett, our National Director said: “Cecil has been involved with us for many years and his commitment to the charity and to helping others is greatly appreciated.

“Huge thanks to Cecil for all that he continues to do and I would like to extend that thanks to all of our fantastic volunteers – we could not do what we do without your help, dedication and support. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and to those who continue to support people living with diabetes below the radar.”

Click Energy Managing Director, Damian Wilson, added: “The staff at Click Energy selected Diabetes UK Northern Ireland as the charity of the year for our organisation and we are thrilled to have been able to work together on this event as part of our charity partnership.

“The Inspire Awards provide a great platform for recognising and rewarding the contributions of the many volunteers who are doing great work to support those living with diabetes and to raise awareness surrounding the condition in Northern Ireland.”

Each winner received an Inspire Award from us and a gift from Click Energy including £250 vouchers for Hastings Hotels and £250 vouchers for Currys/PC World.
