The Big Conversation: The Future of Diabetes in Northern Ireland

Thumbnail

Diabetes UK want to put people living with and affected by diabetes at the heart of our work. So this year we're speaking as many people as possible across the UK about their hopes, and fears, for the future.

That’s why on Friday, 9 June Diabetes UK Northern Ireland brought together people living with diabetes from across Northern Ireland to have a Big Conversation about living with the condition.

The Big Conversation took place at the Holiday Inn Express, University Street in Belfast.

There was a huge variety of experience in the room. Some had been diagnosed with diabetes just months ago; others had lived with the condition for decades. People with all types of diabetes were represented too.

Together they recognised some key issues that needed to change if we were going to achieve the Diabetes UK vision ofa world where diabetes can do no harm

Thankfully many attendees left ready to get involved in that work themselves, by campaigning and volunteering with Diabetes UK Northern Ireland.

Everything raised at the Belfast Big Conversation will help us as we develop our ‘Future of Diabetes’ report, which will be released on World Diabetes Day in November. This report will then be used to help us fight for the changes people living with diabetes have told us they need to see.

It is not too late for you to have your say on theFuture of Diabetes, let us know what you think and have your voice heard.
