Get whisked away this April

The Tullywhisker Regeneration Association is delighted to announce its very first Whisker Way Walk which will take place on Saturday 21 April from Tullywhisker Hall at 2pm. It hopes to welcome families from far and wide to join in this fun walk in beautiful countryside surroundings. The Association has selected Diabetes UK Northern Ireland to receive all donations from the event.

Diabetes UK Northern Ireland National Fundraiser, Naomi Breen, said, ‘We would like to thank the Tullywhisker Regeneration Association for choosing us as their charity for their inaugural 7km Whisker Way Walk. The walk is suitable for all ages and abilities, including prams so no one has to miss out!

‘Keeping active has so many benefits for body and mind so why not gather up friends and family to join us on Saturday 21 April as we all take one step at a time to fight diabetes together.’

The walk is a unique opportunity to explore the route and enjoy refreshments in the local hall as well as meeting with new people in the area. Diabetes UK Northern Ireland will also be on hand to carry out Know Your Risk assessments and provide information and support for anyone living with diabetes.

There are over 100,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland and this number grows every single year. More and more people are learning what a diabetes diagnosis means and the impact that it can have on the individual and the whole family. Events such as the Whisker Way Walk enables people to come together, have fun and know that they do not have to manage the condition in isolation.

Registration starts at 1pm and the walk begins at 2pm. Cost for adults is £10 and for children £2, including refreshments after the walk. You can register on the day and for more information please email whiskerwaywalk@gmail.com or search ‘Whisker Way Walk’ on Facebook.
