A grandmother of two, Gill has volunteered on the charity’s Care in School Helpline which offers support to parents to ensure their children are happy and healthy while at school, since it launched

Gill said: “I love supporting the Care in School Helpline and it’s a pleasure to see that the work I do has such a positive impact on families and children living with diabetes. It’s amazing to be of such a worthwhile cause.”

A woman from Trawden will be tackling the Great Manchester Run for Diabetes UK in memory of her Dad who died from diabetes-related complications.

Sam Goff, 44, is running to support people with diabetes in the hope that she can help others avoid the complications her dad experienced.

Sam, a supervisor at the Menu Shop in Colne said: “I always promised my dad that I would run for Diabetes UK in order to support others with the condition, so this year I want to run to help the charity’s work and to remember my dad.”

David Morris, a retired engineering manager from Congleton has received the ‘Reaching Out and Connecting Award’ as part of Diabetes UK's regional Inspire Awards, in recognition of the work to set u

David is a member of the Congleton Lions Club, which agreed to set up and sponsor a local Diabetes UK group last year, to reach out to people living with diabetes in the area. He was presented with the accolade by the Mayor, Councillor David Brown at Congleton Town Hall on 13 April.

10 students from the University of Chester Tennis Club have completed the Vitality Liverpool Half Marathon to raise awareness of diabetes and support people living with the condition.

One of the students who took part in the run, Zac Broad, 21, from Stevenage, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2010.
